▋about the performance ▋ Japanese singer and vocal improviser Yuki Saga, known for her diverse musical style, excels in interpreting jazz songs with lyrical and poetic expressions. Apart from composing, she sometimes rewrites lyrics for instrumental pieces. Her impression of Taiwan remains in childhood memories of traveling to Taiwan with her mother, filled with fondness. If music can keep one youthful and energetic, she is a perfect example. This year marks her first visit to Taiwan for a tour, featuring different themes in each concert. At the dedicated concert at the Jiangshan Art Cafe, the first part will be a duo with Dutch overtone singer Mark van Tongeren, presenting rare vocal improvisation. The second part will feature with guest musicians Lee Shih-yang, Chang Deng-yao, and Tai Zihning, playing traditional Chinese and Western instruments like suona, erhu, and viola, integrating local elements into the music.

He has over 30 years of experience in theatre-, music- and dance productions and holds a PhD in artistic research from Leiden University's Academy of Creative of Performing Arts. His music studies encompass work in Siberia, Taiwan, Tibetan diaspora and Corsica/Sardinia with a special a focus on timbre. She does so by immersing herself in the realm of experimental music improvisation and meticulously crafting intricate compositions for New Music Theater. Striking a delicate balance, she gracefully transitions between these two contrasting states of mind. Captivated by the boundless nature of music, she wholeheartedly embraces improvisation and embraces the composition technique known as "Aleatoric Music Composition," enabling her to engage in genuine and direct dialogues with space, environment, and people. Through her artistry, she awakens profound moments of life within the hearts of her listeners, uniting audiences through her creative endeavors and forging fresh communal connections.
